UFC 107 Results: Mir vs Kongo and First Round Defeat

UFC 107 had a mixed bag of fights last night, some went the distance while some did not even get passed the first round, which you can read more about in a play-by-play results post that we did a little earlier. One fight that promised much but did not deliver was Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo.

According to Examiner, even before the fighters started their fight you could see the tension between both of them, the ref had asked the two fighters to touch gloves, but they chose not to. Instead they decided to stare intensely at each other.

UFC 107 Results: Mir vs Kongo and First Round Defeat

When the fight got underway it was Kongo who came out fighting first, however his shots missed Mir, but his opponent did not land any either. Mir then took another shot and this one landed nicely and Kongo goes down hard. Mir then takes this as an opportunity to get him in a deep guillotine.

The fight only lasted 90 seconds as Kongo was out cold. The fans feel robbed but Mir is not worried about that, he has just beat his opponent in a fair fight.

    the fans feel robbed?

    Who feels robbed?

I was incredibly pleased with Mir mercing kongo, it was the best possible result, in my opinion.

Robbed? Please, we just suffered through a season of the worst heavyweight fights you could ever see and you call us seeing more pure talent in one minute than we saw in 3 months a robbery? A robbery would have been 2 1/2 minutes of sloppy standup, a B.S takedown, then another 12 1/2 minutes of exhausted heavyweights breathing heavy and clinching/lay and pray. THAT, what we saw, was a fight.

I agree, robbed? Its MMA we want to see people get finished. Its real life, not a movie. I thought it was a great fight, not long, but great.

Mir has a huge fan base so I doubt the fans felt robbed, only thing you can say is that Kongo didn’t perform, being cocky at the weigh-in and glaring at Mir during the refs orders… then producing nothing, that said mir done great, kongo wasn’t at all out from the punch but mir put the guillotine on before kongo had a chance to set up his defence

that was an awsome fight, a beautiful shot followed one of the most brutal chockes iv’e seen
