It’s the news you have all been waiting / hoping for. Rage Against The Machine has beaten X Factor’s Joe McElderry to the Christmas Number One position, with their 1992 hit, ‘Killing in the Name’.
This will surprise many people actually, as although RATM were in the lead in the buildup to the UK Chart reveal, many feared that Joe McElderry would come back strong in the latter stages, with his cover version of ‘The Climb’.

It wasn’t to be though, and it seems as if the general public has spoken. ‘Killing In The Name’ is the first Christmas Number One to be achieved by the way of downloads-only, so it makes this all the more fascinating when you think about it.
I wonder what Joe will think of this and more importantly – what will Simon Cowell think of this? Let us know your thoughts on the whole affair, and if you are pleased that RATM is Christmas Number One or not.
