Simon Cowell treats Joe McElderry and family to lavish holiday

Simon Cowell is taking the X Factor winner Joe McElderry plus 10 of his relatives on a skiing holiday to the Austrian Alps in a five star chalet. The cost of the trip is estimated to be around £20,000.

Geordie Joe is in a race with US rockers Rage Against the Machine for Christmas No1. He spoke to the Sunday Mirror when he mentioned the trip. Joe went on to say how “excited” he was to be going away, and that the last few weeks have “rushed by in a blur.”

18-year-old Joe will take the trip after Christmas, he went shopping yesterday with his mum Eileen. No more can be done for the battle to get to number one for Christmas; it is now a waiting game for the results to be announced. Shoppers were expected to boost Joe’s sales yesterday, as his single is available both on download and in shops.
