John Frusciante, the guitarist from US rock band Red Hot Chilli Peppers has quit the band after writing a blog on his Myspace page saying that he has quit due to differences in his musical interests.
The Peppers guitarist said that; “To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction.” He also said that there was no drama or anger which contributed to his decision to leave the band, and “I really love the band and what we did.”
The Red Hot Chillies are also reportedly working on a follow up album to their 2006 Stadium Arcadium, but reports and rumours have been circulating about Frusciante leaving the band last week and being replaced by Josh Klinghoffer who toured with the band in 2007, and also appeared on Frusciante’s solo album in 2009’s The Empyrean.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Does this meen that the gigs they had booked for croke park are cancelled? What about the new material they have been working on? REPENT! The end is near!
The Chili Peppers are still making music currently. Their new guitarist is Josh Klinghoffer, a highly touted LA guitarist. He has been friends with RHCP and John for ten years, recorded music with John, and performed with the Chili Peppers.
I’m devastated to say the least. John’s parts in “Stadium Arcadium” will forever be some of my favorite, soul-filled guitar playing of all time. It’s not the typical “best guitar playing ever” but for me his RHCP guitar lines were on another level. Although I’ve heard and enjoy some of his solo work, I’ve always felt that the camaraderie of the Chilis and his compatibility with Flea’s bass playing brought his music up to another level…It’ll be truly sad when I go to see them on their next tour and he’s not on stage!
