Director Guy Ritchie is probably best known, for his gangster movies such as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Revolver.” So when people heard that he was directing two Hollywood A-listers in his new movie “Sherlock Holmes,” they may have been dubious.
But according to a review at cherwell.org, “Sherlock Holmes,” which opened in movie theaters on Christmas Day, could well be described as one of the most entertaining films of the year. The movie sees Robert Downey Jr. s Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law as his sidekick Dr Watson.

Guy Ritchie’s new film sees Holmes and Watson trying to solve the mystery of a serial killer, who appears to have risen from the dead. The plot may not seem all that great on paper, but the movie is not so much about the mystery and more about the men who are solving it.
With Robert Downey Jr.’s Holmes, the audience is shown a man who has a brilliant mind, and is able to solve any crime with which he is presented. And Jude Law’s Dr Watson, is every bit the Victorian gentleman and not the bumbling sidekick that we’ve seen in previous adaptions.
