Tonight was meant to see the first legs of the Carling Cup semi-finals take place, however due to freezing conditions the matches have been called off.
The match between Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa was set to take place at Blackburn’s home pitch Ewood park, the pitch is said to be playable, however the freezing conditions could have proved to have been dangerous for traveling fans.
The other match was to take place tomorrow between Manchester United and Manchester City, however “accessing either ground was deemed too treacherous for supporters”.
It is now thought that the first leg of the all-Manchester tie will take place on January 19th, the Blackburn Villa tie has not yet been re-arranged.
