It looks like sports broadcasting will be entering a whole new world this year – a three-dimensional world. Yes that’s right – 3D. According to a recent report at the ESPN website, they will be unveiling the industry’s first 3-D network in 2010.
ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer announced that ESPN 3D, will be showcasing a minimum of 85 live sporting events during its first year, starting with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico, on June 11th.

Other sporting events that will be produced in 3-D, include the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, College football and basketball contests, up to 25 2010 World Cup matches and the Summer X Games, with additional events later on.
Bodenheimer issued a statement, saying that ESPN’s commitment to 3-D is a win for the fans and their business partners. He then went on to say that ESPN 3D, will enhance the fan’s viewing experience. What do you think of the news?
