Jayson Williams Suffers Minor Injuries in SUV Crash

Former NBA star Jayson Williams, was hurt early on Tuesday morning, when he apparently crashed his sport utility vehicle into a tree. His black Mercedes was believed to have hit the tree at high speed, after exiting the FDR Drive in Manhattan at around 3:15 am.

A spokeswoman for the New York Police Department said that Williams is in a stable condition, after he was taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries. According to cnn.com, witnesses say they saw Williams move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat before police arrived.

Police say that they are now investigating the crash, to see whether alcohol was involved at all. Williams, who played for the New Jersey Jets, is currently awaiting retrial, on manslaughter charges related to the shooting death of his limousine driver back in 2002.
