Mike Shanahan Negotiating Contract With Washington Redskins

Mike Shanahan is close to completing a deal with the Washington Redskins after a day of meetings between Redskins owner Daniel Snyder and Shanahan made significant progress towards him becoming the 27th coach in franchise history.

Sandy Montag, an agent of Shanahan has reportedly gone to D.C. to meet with G.M. Bruce Allen to wrap up the deal according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who tweeted this afternoon: “Talks went well enough last night that Mike Shanahan summoned his agent, Sandy Montag, to Washington to negotiate his contract.”

If Shanahan becomes the new coach, and the deal goes through, it is thought that the document that has already been prepared could net Shanahan more than $10 million a year, on a five year contract.
