Weekend Box Office Results: Avatar Still at Top

It’s Monday today, which means that we can now bring you all the results of the weekend box office. And all I can say is that it looks like James Cameron’s sci-fi spectacular “Avatar,” is proving to be quite an unstoppable force at the box office.
According to a recent report at radaronline.com, “Avatar” is now closing in on half a billion in the domestic box office, taking in yet another $41.3 million at the box office this weekend just gone, keeping its No. 1 spot for the fifth consecutive week.
Denzel Washington’s new movie “The Book of Eli,” managed to storm its way into the No. 2 spot, taking a strong $31.6 million over the weekend. The third place spot was taken by “The Lovely Bones” movie, which took $17 million.
The family movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” managed to come in fourth, with $11.5 million, while “Sherlock Holmes,” which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, took the fifth place, bringing in another $9.8 million.
