Tim Burton’s Sleeping Beauty about villain Maleficent

Tim Burton’s new movie adaption of “Alice in Wonderland,” is not due for release yet, but there is already news that he is planning another movie. And according to monstersandcritics.com, this time it will be the story of Sleeping Beauty’s villain Maleficent.

The 51-year old director’s “Alice in Wonderland” movie, which stars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter among many other stars, is due for release on March 5th 2010, but it appears that he’s not happy with just one Disney flick.

He now wants another one in the form of “Sleeping Beauty,” but instead of being about the Sleeping Beauty character, he plans for the new movie to focus on the story of it villain Maleficent instead. Reports say that he wants to develop it as a type of live-action film.

Storylines that could well be explored in the new movie could include why the witch hates the three fairies, and what Maleficent has against Aurora’s parents. What do you think about the idea of a Tim Burton “Sleeping Beauty” movie? Will you be watching it?

    I think he should do an adaptation of ‘Wicked’ instead; the novel that retells the Wizard of Oz from the perspective of the Witch of the West as she grows up and ends with her death at the hands of Dorothy. Great book. Read it.
