A television advertisement from weight loss, weight management and nutrition company Jenny Craig, has resulted in them being sued by their rival Weight Watchers International, who claim Jenny Craig Inc. lied in their advertising campaign.
According to a report from smh.com.au, the advert, which featured spokeswoman Valerie Bertinelli, said that a “major clinical trial” had shown that their clients lost, on average, over twice as much weight as those on the largest weight-loss program.

This was referring to the Weight Watchers program, according to the complaint filed in a federal court in New York on Tuesday. Weight Watchers say that the Jenny Craig advertisements are false and claim they didn’t conduct a trial.
New York based Weight Watchers, has now asked the court to stop Jenny Craig from using advertisements that claim their weight-loss program to be superior and is also seeking damages. A spokeswoman for Jenny Craig, Julia Safer, had no comment.
