American Idol Season 9: Orlando Auditions Recap

The new season of “American Idol” is in full swing now, and last night’s episode took us to Orlando and more auditions. Thousands of hopefuls turned up to audition in the home of Disney World, but according to seattlepi.com, only 31 singers got tickets to Hollywood.

A lot of the episode appeared to focus on the newfound friendship, between Kara DioGuardi and last night’s guest judge Kristin Chenoweth. And as per normal, last night’s episode featured a few good auditions, a lot of bad auditions and some ridiculous auditions as well.

So here is just a brief recap of some of the episode’s best and worst auditions. Seth Rollins, whose son has autism, was one of the contestants with a good voice. He got through to Hollywood, but Simon and Randy said he needs to work on his energy and stage presence.

Matt Lawrence was another contestant that impressed the judges. He chose to sing “Trouble,” which appeared to be a very fitting song considering he has just spent four years behind bars for robbing a bank with a BB gun. Anyway, he got a ticket to Hollywood.

One of the worst auditions of the night was that of Theo Glinton, who chose to sing “Heartbreaker.” His face was bedazzled, his pants were too tight and for some reason, he was wearing a cape. His vocals weren’t as bad as his outfit was, but he appeared to shout and not sing.
