American singer/songwriter and musician Prince, has reportedly released a new song in honor of the Minnesota Vikings NFL team, in hopes of boosting their chances of a victory at this Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints.
According to a report at footballnewsnow.com, Prince, who is a native of Minneapolis, is a life-long fan of the Vikings. He hadn’t seen them play in a while, but attended last Sunday’s playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys and was inspired to write a song.

When he got home from the game, the “Purple Rain” and “1999” singer decided to write the song, which he titled “Purple and Gold.” According to the rocker, the lyrics came quite easy to him. The Minnesota Vikings now plan to feature it on their website.
