Mischa Barton Sued: Neglecting to pay three months rent

It looks like former “O.C.” actress Mischa Barton, who was apparently hospitalized last year for psychiatric observation, has got herself into a spot of bother with her landlord. According to reuters.com, she has now been sued for back rent on her N.Y. apartment.

The actress’s landlord, M.R.A. Realties Inc., accused 23-year old Barton of neglecting to pay rent for three months, on her $7,000 a month apartment in New York’s TriBeCa neighborhood. According to the lawsuit filed on Thursday, she now owes $21,300.

British-born Mischa failed to pay the rent from November 2009, through to January 2010 on her year-long September 2009 lease. The suit also states that the actress, who has also starred in “The Beautiful Life,” owes an additional $100 for each missed month of rent.

Joseph Burden, who is the landlord’s attorney, says that the apartment has been vacant since November. A representative working for Barton, said that he had no knowledge at all of the suit that was filed against her.
