Over 75 artists have come together to try and help the poor people of Haiti by re-recording the 1985 live aid classic We Are The World produced by Quincy Jones, they even produced the song in the same Hollywood recording studio.
Jones wants to release the song as he announced last week for earthquake in Port-au-Prince. And the stars turned out in droves Celine Dion, Kanye West, Pink and Natalie Cole, were just a few that gave up their time to help the victims. During the rehearsal some of the musicians broke out into a version of Lean On Me.
However some big names never showed up including Beyonce Knowles, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga. Rapper Lil’ Wayne was reported to have recorded Bob Dylan’s part in the original song. Simon Cowell has helped release Everybody Hurts for the victims of the earthquake as we previously reported.

Gaga’s given over a half-million $$ to Haitian relief, donating the proceeds from her already sold out finale at Radio City Music Hall on 1/24 along with all merchandise sales that day, at the event and on line. Plus, she’s selling a Haiti tee shirt with proceeds going to Haiti. She gives the credit to her fans, but big money has come out of her pocket. So, frankly, I couldn’t care less whether she came to this particular event.
Sure, just sing a song, and all your liberal guilt will just melt away.
