As many of you will be aware, the 2010 Oscar nominations were announced yesterday and according to guardian.co.uk, James Cameron’s “Avatar” and Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker,” are competing against each other for best picture and best director awards.
Both “Avatar and “The Hurt Locker” are leading the way in this year’s nominations, with nine nods each. James Cameron’s “Avatar” movie proved to be a huge success in the box office, managing to keep the number 1 spot for weeks and weeks on end.

In fact, “Avatar” has now overtaken “Titanic,” (also by James Cameron) as the highest-grossing movie of all time. If we were to go by those results, we could possibly say that it looks like James Cameron’s “Avatar” could possibly win the award for best picture.
But then again, Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker” has been getting a fair bit of credit of its own. It was actually named as the best picture of 2009 by the San Francisco Film Critics Circle last year, as well as its director winning an award at the Directors Guild Awards recently.
What I would like to know, is which film you would actually vote for.
