Carrie Underwood Lands Role in ‘Soul Surfer’ Movie

It looks like we will be seeing country music superstar Carrie Underwood on the big screen very soon. According to mtv.com, Carrie has just landed herself a supporting role in the upcoming movie “Soul Surfer.”

Carrie, who not only picked up a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration but was also one of the stars included in the Grammy tribute to Michael Jackson last weekend, will be playing church youth leader Sarah Hill.

The movie, which begins filming this month, is based on the real-life story of Bethany Hamilton, who is the 19-year champion surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack when she was aged 13, but still competed.

Former “American Idol” contestant Underwood will be starring alongside Kevin Sorbo, Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid and AnnaSophia Robb, who is reportedly playing the part of Bethany Hamilton, in the movie.
