Robert Pattinson dismisses Spider-Man role

British actor Robert Pattinson has dismissed rumours that he’s set to replace Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, however he did say that he’d love to take over the lead role in the superhero series.

Pattinson the Twilight saga’s heartthrob was set to be in the running after Tobey Maguire quit the franchise along with director Sam Raimi. Zac Efron the star from High School Musical is also in the running to play spidey. Speculation as to who will take over from Maguire went into overload, when movie bosses announced plans to reboot the upcoming fourth film as a prequel.

Pattinson has said that no Hollywood big wigs have approach him about the role, but he’d be tempted to take it if an offer was on the table. Sony said that casting for the project had not started and that its main priority was finding a director to replace Sam Raimi.
