Saw VII Could Be The Last In The Franchise Says Saw Writer

Patrick Melton, the Saw IV, V, VI and VII co-writer of the Saw series has stated that he believes that the next installment of the Saw franchise due to be released in 3D this halloween will be the nail in the coffin (or in the head if you wish).

The gore-fested Saw series was very popular, but has dramatically slumped down in the ratings since it’s first venture into the horror market in 2004. Ever since then, there has been a Saw film every single halloween, and just as their could be a battle of the halloween horror films in 2010, with Paranormal Activity 2 expected to be released along side Saw VII, Melton could stop that battle before it has even started.

The reasoning behind the decision is due to the hideous box office showing for Saw VI. Melton, while speaking to Latino Review said that in previous discussions, they have talked about wrapping it up after the second trilogy and that Saw VIII would be the last one. The point being, “why make two movies when we can make one really excellent movie that wraps up as best we can? And it’s going to be in 3-D which sort of adds to the spectacle,” he said.

Saw VII is also going to be known as Endgame, but they state that Endgame being the last in the series is not official yet, but they are seeing how things go.

How do you feel about the Saw franchise thus far? Do you think they should end it with a bang? Or a another game?
