When the residents of Los Angeles look out at their famous skyline today, they will probably need to take a second look in disbelief. And the reason for this is that the famous Hollywood sign is being rebranded – yes that’s right rebranded!
According to a report at independent.co.uk, the nine cut-out letters that stand at roughly 45ft tall and perch on the hillside in Los Angeles are scheduled to be temporarily covered, by a huge banner urging locals to help “Save the Peak.”

The temporary facelift is reportedly being carried out by a group who are battling to raise $12 million, to prevent the backdrop behind the Hollywood sign, which was built back in 1923, from being sold to property developers.
Reports say that the Trust for Public Lands has until April, to exercise an option to buy a 138-acre area of land known as Cahuenga Peak. If it fails to do this, a collection of luxury homes will apparently be built there instead.
Jay Dean, who is the person in charge putting up the 450ft banner, which is a two-day operation due to start today, said that they have got about $6 million so far but only have another two months left to raise the rest of the money.
It was police who blew the lid on the supposedly secret plan on Monday night, when they issued a “community alert notification” to residents of Hollywood, telling them that they should not be alarmed by the change to the skyline.
