According to a recent report over at monstersandcritics.com, the famous Abbey Road and EMI studio, which was the iconic Beatles stomping ground throughout the 1960’s, has been put up for sale recently, by the debt struggling EMI.
The Beatles used the Abbey Road studios, which is situated in St. John’s Wood in north London, to record an album of the same name, and even put an image of themselves crossing the road outside the studios on the front cover.

EMI, who are now struggling with debt arising from a buyout in 2007 by a private equity firm Terra Firma, refused to comment on the sale, but it has been estimated that a sale could reap the music group tens of millions of pounds.
Whether the sale of the studios will include the Abbey Road brand, is uncertain at this moment in time. But a media lawyer said that the brand is worth more than the building, so anyone wanting to buy the studios, will also want the brand.
Reports say that EMI bought the property for £100,000 in 1929. Pink Floyd is said to have recorded their “Dark Side of the Moon” album at Abbey Road studios, and Blur, Travis, Radiohead and Manic Street Preachers are also said to have used it.
