Lost Season 6: Recap of Episode 4 ‘The Substitute’

Did you just happen to watch episode 4 of “Lost” that aired last night? If you didn’t, then we have a quick recap for you. And in typical “Lost” fashion, last night’s episode, which was called “The Substitute,” went back and forth from the island to the altverse.

So let’s gets started with what happened in last night’s episode, in which we saw Locke in the altverse. Once Locke was home from his flight, we saw him being greeted by his fiancée Helen. The next day when Locke was at work at the box company, he was questioned about his “business trip.”

Locke then got fired and when he went outside to get into his car, he was prevented from doing so by a big yellow Hummer, which was owned by none other than Hurley, who gives him a number to a temp agency he owns. When Locke was at the temp agency, he sees Rose.

We then see Locke becoming a substitute teacher in the altverse. And what made this a great “Lost” episode, was when John went to the teacher’s lounge and met up with the European History teacher, who just happens to be a guy named Dr. Benjamin Linus!!

Now we go to the island, where fake Locke is busy and Ben finds Llana crying in the statue, over all her fallen friends. Llana then took some of Jacob’s ashes, and told Ben that Locke is recruiting. While the others went to the Temple, Sun, Frank, Llana and Ben bury Locke in the Island Cemetery.

Llana then revealed to them that fake Locke is actually stuck inside Locke’s body. We then see the Smoke Monster travelling through the Barracks, until it reaches Richard Alpert. All of a sudden, the Smoke Monster turns back into the fake Locke, who then went to see Sawyer.

Fake Locke then told a drunken Sawyer that he wanted to show him why he was on the island. Sawyer agreed and went with him, but Richard then appeared and told Sawyer that fake Locke wants to kill everyone. Sawyer just ignored Richard and carried on with Locke regardless.

Finally, fake Locke takes Sawyer to a cave where all the names of the Oceanic 815 survivors are written. There are six names with the infamous numbers next to them, which apparently are the six candidates to replace Jacob. And of course, James’s name is one of the six names on the wall.

Wow, what an episode! The alternate world finally interested me with a fantastic Locke story that had the same themes with a different veneer. Fake Locke was manipulating Sawyer back on the island, and we finally learned what the numbers are for—as long as we believe Fake Locke.

Yeah, I'm wondering why you wiped the previous comment board that had some pretty interesting discussions going on. The board was entitled: "Lost 2010: Season 6 spoilers and your theories" and had comments running up until Feb. 17, 2010. Yet you have now effectively erased all recent comments from that particular site. Why? Frankly, it makes no sense. The least you folks could do would be link to an updated, all-encompassing, ongoing comment section rather than separating it up piecemeal by episode. And where are those recently-made comments? It's almost like someone pressed the "delete" button on your end. Bad form.

yes!!! if i'm honest i regularly used to go onto that link and have a scan at the new comments and work through the theories, it was my favourite Lost forum tbh. and there was over 200 comments, and now there's only 97. and you've deleted all the 1s that actually talk about season 6, i would appreciate a link to these comments
