Following on from our story earlier that Andrew Lloyd Webber was interested in buying the iconic Abbey Road recording studios in North London; it now appears that they are not for sale. The music label that owns them EMI, have announced today that they are not for sale.
According to a recent report at cnn.com, Terra Firma, the company that controls EMI, says that it is seeking a partner to help pay for upgrades. “EMI confirms that it is holding preliminary discussion for the revitilization of Abbey Road with interested and appropriate third parties,” Terra Firma said.

The music company recently released a statement, in which it said that it had received an offer to buy Abbey Road for over £30 million back in mid-2009. But they went on to say that the offer was in fact rejected, because they believe that it should remain in EMI’s ownership.
Abbey Road Studios became world famous, when the Beatles were photographed crossing the road outside, for the cover of their “Abbey Road” album. Pink Floyd and Cliff Richard also recorded music there, as well as the movie soundtracks for “Star Wars and the “Harry Potter” films.
