Scotty Lago Photo Controversy: Racy Pictures

A “racy” photograph of American snowboarder Scotty Lago surfaced on the Internet recently and according to a recent report at gather.com, that certain picture has landed Scotty in a bit of trouble at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he has been competing.

Originally, it was reported that Lago had left the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics voluntarily, but it appears to have come out now that he was in fact forced to leave, by the USSA. The so-called “racy” photo was originally released by celebrity blog site TMZ.

Upon hearing about the pictures, the Olympic Committee said that Lago had to go home, or be sent home. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association said that although Scotty is a great athlete, there comes a responsibility of proper conduct with that too.

They then went on to say that Scotty’s involvement in the situation is just not acceptable. Scotty is apparently not able to speak about the racy pictures until March 3rd, 2010. So until then, we won’t be able to hear his side of the story. Visit tmz.com to view the photos.

Tell us what you think. Do you think he should have been sent home over the photographs?

It was wrong and Mr. Lago needed to be sent home! I too am an American, I too was raised in this country and yet I would never conduct myself in this manner. If the author of this article believes this type of conduct is acceptable, maybe he should take a serious look at himself and the condition of our country. It is my thought that maybe, just maybe part of the condition of our nation is the idea that we can do what-ever we want because we were born in the USA. Americans are disliked and even hated by much of the world and we are losing our grip. This type of conduct represents the attitude of many of my peers, while traveling abroad. I watch them do “anything they want,” after all “we are from America!” We as a country do not hold the esteem or popularity we once did, nor do we maintain the power we once had. Be nice to other countries, we may need their assistance someday. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

Abusing your fame is never cool guys. There are hoards of raunchy male role models out there…enough already!

That being said kicking him out is a bit harsh I think. It's not like he did this at the awards ceremony. The Olympic council is sounding a bit controlling in this case.
