We can all probably say that we have done some dumb stuff in our time, and have had to make our apologies. And the same goes for many celebrities as well. But while we do our apologies in private, stars normally do their apologies in public and in front of a camera.
And last Friday, troubled golfer Tiger Woods became the latest celebrity to issue a public apology for his wrong-doings. So in the spirit of asking for forgiveness, we thought we would bring you a collection of some noteworthy celebrity apologies, including Tiger Woods’.
Let’s start with Mel Gibson at number 1, who according to eonline.com, made his apology on “Good Morning America.” The actor sparked outrage following his arrest for DUI, when it was revealed that he had shouted sexist and anti-Semitic remarks at the cops.
Talk show host David Letterman is at number 2, for apologizing to his wife and staff on “The Late Show,” for having the affairs. At number three on the list is Alec Baldwin, who apologized for a vile voicemail he had left on his daughter’s phone, on “The View” talk show.
British actor Hugh Grant is at number 4. He chose to apologize on “The Tonight Show,” for hooking up with a Hollywood prostitute. Kanye West is among the list at number 6, for his apology for the incident that happened at the MTV Video Music Awards.
And of course, we can’t forget the latest star Tiger Woods, who finally made a public appearance on Friday from the PGA Tour headquarters. He apologized for his selfish and irresponsible behavior and admitted that he was indeed unfaithful to his wife Elin.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS! wHO CARES WHAT THEY SAY1
The differrence between you and most of the others speaking against Tiger is that you didn't get caught. You want talk about role models start looking a little closer to home becasue the reality is that all fal short in some area of life. Our have we become a people that justifies our own actions while becoming critical of others. "If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing decives himself. Each one should test their own actions . Then he can take pride in himself without comparing himself to others."
You are so right. If God had to judge us all, non will stand or qualify for a common pass. God's grace has brought us this far and sustained us all. Who are we to judge others especially if God and his wife has accepted his apology.
You must expect Tiger to be human and nothing more. This is not an excuse, but so what. Life happens and unfortunately this is one part of it. How he responds to this situation will be his defining moment. Just because it's TIGER WOODS doesn't mean that he is perfect. This is just a reminder that he is also human and make mistakes just as we all do. No one is perfect, we are all sinners and last I remembered, no one sin is greater than another. So who are we to judge? If anything, support the man for moving forward to the best of his abilities. He shouldn't have even had to apologize to the public like that. Like we are the jury or something. That's b.llsh.t. This matter is between his family, not us. F..k golf. He is a human being first.
So another husband that has cheater on his wife, commited adultry and now he goes on television to apologise.
Sex addiction, come on. What happened to commitment, self respect for oneself and others.
Give ua all a break. We are not inerested in hearing another story.
So our children learn that they can be free spirits and part of what it takes to heal is to go on TV admit your wrong doings and hope that their life returns to normal how sick is that.
Lets hear from those that do it right and let them be amongst the role models that we want for our children.
Sex addiction usually results from drug addiction (for pain or otherwise)….when the brain has been manipulated, and usually the person doesn't even understand that something is wrong (frontal lobe control center is not working properly). He's had surgeries, so he's had strong meds….he's not in full control, as in rational decision making control.
I still do not think he should be a role model for any child. Children should have role models that are moral.

When you talk about role models are you married or single and if married then why would this man have to be a role model for your child if single then all children must learn that the best role model is in the bible insteadof taking them to golf shows or watching tv try a role model at church and even there men have shady backrounds get a grip and open you eyes to reality
What role model has so call good morals? And to whose standards do they have to live by. Parents should be role models. Soon as someone makes any kind of accomplishments they are called role models. These are so called role models are poeple just like the any of us. They make mistakes just like we do only they are in the public eye. Stop putting these celebs on a pedestal. Just appreciate what their natural talents are. Back in the day without TMZ and Perez Hiltons of the world it was more fun to wonder how our celebs lived. Role dodels are not stars and strangers. Role medel starts from home and within. How many kid are we induvidually mentoring here in our various community? Charity begins at home first.
I agree with you 100%, Tiger "just get caught"… he could have done this a hundred times… he had played a "double-life"… or shalll I say "triple-life"…. Just because he made a mistake does NOT mean he doesn't have any morals. A TRUE ROLE MODEL is one who makes a mistake and conducts himself or herself as morally as possible to apply solutions that allow a person to grow from the mistake. What makes YOU so perfect? I am certain you have made immoral decisions before, but quiet as it is kept, that give you the right to judge? I'm not saying that his apology was the best, but he did it. I could have not done anything at all. Give the man credit. Children love the man because he is a great athlete. Not because he is prince charming. Separate the two. Kids don't see, "Oh man, Tiger is a all American man". No, they see how great he is at golf. It's YOU, the people who judge who think otherwise. Again, who made you the moral judge?
When did this man save the world from a dred disease or a holocaust of some nature? I don't remember it if he did. For chris sakes, the man hits a little white ball around a freaking cow pasture, and we expect him to be cross worthy. We evaluate a golfer more highly than we would Louis Pasteur? Where in hell are our freaking heads?
I agree. I can't believe that his apology had captured worldwide media attention. I'm not a golf fan at all. Tiger Woods owes no one an apology but his wife. As for those "whores" who knew he was married and still had an affair with him; he owes none of them an apology. They all (if all of them are telling the truth about having an affair with him) knew he was married. All they saw was $$. He got caught and he lied about i; that's why he's apologizing. We would do the same if we were in his situation. My children were taught early in life that the only role models they had better ever give credit to is their mother and father. I think it is so stupid for parents to say Woods failed as a role model. What are they to your children if you consider celebrities role models to your children. What a sad world we live in.
I don't know why the other women must be "whores". They are all guilty. If men weren't so sex obsessed, there wouldn't be "whores" lingering for celebrity attention. Who creates this market? Gloria Albright and her prostitute clients continue to try to take money from Tiger. Well, he already paid them when he went with them. These women are not innocent women nor are they virgins by a long shot. These are working women that work the system to their advantage, including Gloria Albright. Don't pay them Tiger, they have already been paid with money and publicity. They are not innocent nor are they stupid, they new exactly what they were doing and with whom.

First of all if you become a famous sports competitor you are always gonna have to answer to fans. Thats part of being a role model. Tiger didn't need to apologize to everyone. This issue was between him and his wife, she is the only one he needed to apologize to.
His wife made the entire situation public by assulting him. Why hasn't she apologized? why isn't she in Jail? She knew the type of lifestyle he lived and she went after him and now she is crying victim. It would have been between the two of them if she had not assulted him. But, if he does not press charges and make her apologize; he is stupid. The last time I checked; assult is a crime and if Chris Brown had to pay the price, so should Tiger Wood's wife.
It's really a sad day when hypocritical Americans posing as the "Righteous Ones" can sit around and point their fingers at someone who has made a mistake as though you all havem't made mistakes. Well, the difference is that Tiger is a billion dollar athlete and takes in tens of million a year, so he is not exactly like the rest of us. On top of that, he has gone against the very public image that he (and his handlers) so carefully crafted and which was in part what a lot of those millions of dollars of endorsements were based on – not only being the tip golfer of his time but having the right image and values.
Really, ask yourself honestly how many of his corporate sponsors would have signed their multi-million dollar endorsement deals with him had they known he was an out of control adulterer? It's not all about his ability to hit that little golf ball into the hole – it also had to do with having the right image.
Celebrities should be considered as a role model not perfect because we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory. Repentance is between a person and Almighty God. I don't know if she should leave her husband or not but I know she must forgive him. . I think the world should start focusing more on our children and marriages because that is gong to make the difference. Children should obey their parents as God has commanded. Men should be happy with the wife of their youth. You only live once make it the best. Tiger have beautiful children and a beautiful wife. Give this situation to God he will work it out he still loves Tiger. Tiger and his family are on their next level move on. Every knee shall bow every tongue shall confess Jesus is Lord. It's the man place to ask and the woman place to say yes or no. She knew Tiger was married and he did too. It wasn't his place to even go there but ther ebecame an escape she should have said no.
My question is "who cares?" Seriously, these people are just people. I don' tthink they are role models. I mean, who really sits down and says they want to be the best golfer in the world, so they should emulate every facet of Tiger Woods' life? Those that do this have bigger issues to face. You had very little to do with it. Your money is going to leave your pockets one way or another, so that doesn't factor in. It is best to just consider these poeple as people. They're not superior people, from a moral standpoint, and should not be expected to be. If you do, you're just deluding yourself and expending time and attention on something that is better spent on yourselves or someone that truly matters.

I was rather shocked when this story first broke out- and although I really don't follow golf, I used to think Tiger was a decent guy because the media always portrayed him as a good father and a great son. Not that it matters, but I thought it was rather funny how he turned out to be such a big time cheater. But in the end I think he has made enough money and he only did this apology because he is loosing money on endorsements. Frankly I could care less if he ever plays golf again! He did it to himself. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. His wife should just divorce him and take his money…lol
Do you have someone in your life that you have not apologized to. If you haven't done it yet, i hope you will do it soon. None of us are prefect. no not one. And making human beings more then what they are is really your problem.

You as parents should be your childs role model. Now think of some of the things that you are doing wrong and your children are copying. The only role model that Tiger should be is to his children. Its amaiazing that the moment Tiger"s drama came up, concerns for Haiti got put to the side. Its all about whats new or something to talk about. where is real love and care? My comment is for Tiger's mother (Kultida Punsawad), the bible tells us to train a child in the way he should go and he will come back to it. You did that and I believe Tiger will come back to his faith and the way he should be living . As far as I'm concerned Tiger, or anyone else for that matter, shouldn't have to feel that they need to apologize to anyone other than those who are directly effected by their actions. I don't think the media, the public or business associates or partners are entitled to an apology for an action that has nothing to do with them. In the case of Tiger, those sponsors who dropped him should be taking a good look into their own closets. And for those who say that he, or they, are a role models for our kids. I have a suggestion, be that parent to which your kids look up to.

Kind of a sad indictment of the state of our society and culture – adultery (and especially out-of-control adultery) is no longer seen as necessarily wrong in itself and can be rationalized away in all sorts of ways ("Well, nobody's perfect so who are you to criticize Tiger," "It's a private matter between him and Elin," etc.).
It's no longer about whether an action is inherently morally right or wrong, it's whether you get caught or not. That sort of situational ethics is a symptom of the decline of a society, whether you want to believe it or not.

I do not understand how people can say "He made a mistake" What he did and continued to do time and time again is not "'A mistake". let's not forget that Tiger hits a ball for a living. NO ONE should think of him as a role model for anything but golf. He lost sight of the fact that he was not above the same rules that apply to everyone. Don't forget that none of these women were drugged or kidnapped. They were willing participants. How many of them made the first move? People are nuts over celebrities and prone to do stupid things to get close to them. Ask NBA players how hard it is to resist the volunteers. I love the Game of Golf and with out Tiger playing it just is not as exciting and I find I only want to
see highlights from the golf world. I believe this goes for most people who watch sports. We always say we want to see a good game or boxing match a great fight.Tiger brings that energy to golf. I believe what Tiger did was wrong in his actions to havae the affairs but it is not for me to judge him.It does not effect my personal life So what happens between him and his wife his his buisness. I man flies into an IRS office and all we heard about was Tiger> It is sad that as a society that is what we focus on. He is a man that made mutilple mistakes against his family. Though it is not an excuse ; but Tiger has been under the flood light since very early age. celebrities tend to divert from sanity if they are unable to handle fame and fortune. If this is the wakeup call for Tiger ; so be it. It is always better than dying with an OD of some bills. Let’s hope he learnt his valuable lesson.
