Adam Lambert: Susan Boyle Album Is “Terrible”

Adam Lambert: Susan Boyle Album Is “Terrible”

Adam Lambert has gone on record to tell everyone what he really thinks of Susan Boyle’s debut album entitled ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ … and said that he thinks it is “terrible.”

While speaking to Gay Times, the ‘For Your Entertainment’ singer said that he was disappointed that his own debut LP failed to reach the much coveted #1 spot on the Billboard 200, and blamed SuBo’s album for his failure.

Lambert continues to put Susan’s album down, and pokes the most fun at her lead single from the album, ‘Wild Horses’ which he said it made him laugh the hardest. Apparently he was “crying with laughter” and says the track is a “horrendous, sacrilegious” version of the original 1971 hit by the Rolling Stones.

I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that’s taking it abit too far surely Adam?

What do you make of Susan’s and Adam’s debut albums?

Absolutely loved Susan's. Don't like the few songs I've heard from Adam's. I recognize he's a great singer, but don't like his gimmickry. He needs to clarify this right away.

  2. jojo says:

What I loved about Adam on American Idol was that he purposefully did a "sacriligious" version of Ring of Fire. He always loves twists on songs that are way out there. So, I was more than a little disappointed to hear him characterize her version of Wild Horses that way. Adam is SUCH a nice person, gracious, kind, open and always complimentary of other artists. I need to hear the interview in context because he also has a great sense of humor. I can imagine him shaking his fist in mock anger and saying, "Damn that Susan Boyle and her terrible cd!" because he came in second. But, ya know, he doesn't care about coming in second, it doesn't bother him. So I am sure this comment was taken out of context. Adam is just never ever mean.

    • Joan says:

If it doesnt bother him he should be quiet,Susans was the better album.John rolled over in his grave when Adam sang Ring of Fire.

  3. Jackie says:

Jojo – Then he should say that. I hope he clarifies soon, 'cause this doesn't sound nice & his tweet was very non-chalant.

    • Pete says:

Jackie – What did you expect on Twitter? A thesis on the subject? You only have 140 characters.

My tuppence worth? Decision makers in the publication that this "interview" was in have never liked Adam. They were critical of him during AI and have made no secret of the fact that they are not over the moon about him being promoted in the UK. They have an issue with their personal little favourite getting ignored and …………… wait for it …………….. this gay publication thinks Adam is too gay! I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did anything they could to try to sabotage his promotion in the UK.

For what it's worth, I could have given that quote word for word. I think Susan Boyle is better than her material, which is either predictable or inappropriate, and rushed promotion she has been given. Did Adam say it? I doubt it for two glaring reasons. One being that the phraseology is British English, not American English. If someone is going to put words into someone else's mouth, the first rule is to use words that the other person would use. The second being that Adam did not come in second to Susan Boyle, Andrea Bocelli did. If the article contains this obvious inaccuracy (and what chart position he came in at and to who are things that Adam would know) why should anyone believe anything that is said in the rest of it.

There is also the fact that Adam's UK publicists have been very good about keeping his fans informed of interviews, etc, that he has done for British publications and there was never any mention of this one. It is not unknown for stock interviews to be done and sections to be taken from those by various publications who then change the odd bit here and there to make it look like an exclusive.

  4. tara says:

Adam is awesome..he did not say this as he stated MISQUOTED!

  5. neil says:

@adamlambert Oh joy! MisQuoted again… Becoming quite funny actually.

  6. IS1 says:

whatever – she's average…he's amazing…her album was full of covers – nothing original there….his wasn't and had some really good tracks – some of which he co wrote….she is only famous because of the freak factor anyway – if she was pretty, no one would bat an eyelash….

  7. guest says:

Adam is deliberately trying to be offensive to get attention. Nasty, and probably won't work in his favour. Makes him sound like a pathetic little whining jerk.

    • Freaka says:

Adam has been misquoted…he has said so via Twitter…I don’t know what he said exactly but I don’t like her album either…and it is fine to say that! Adam is a great guy with an amazing talent. As his mother has said -he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. I am sick of hearing so many haters put him down. It is outright homophobia and I find the nastiness weird and strange.

  8. terie says:

PEOPLE! GET REAL!! WHY would ADAM find it necessary to BASH Susan's album? He is doing VERY well with his own album & is launching a WORLDWIDE PROMOTIONAL TOUR. What PURPOSE would it serve him to DISS Susan at this stage in his career? Talk about BELIEVING anything you hear!!! YOU PEOPLE ARE RIDICULOUS!! Take a step back & ask yourselves WHY! ADAM is never disrespectful of anyone in all of his MTV interviews or Access Hollywood or Entertainment Tonight or Oprah or Ellen, etc. WHY would he suddenly say something about Susan's album? COME ON! BELIVE NOTHING YOU HEAR & ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE!!!

  9. suprnatrulcat says:

I don't care if Adam slammed SUBO's album or not – what is the big deal? Is she untouchable? I also do not think much of her album, which isn't an indictment again Susan Boyle, but rather her management team. Doing a album of covers at the begginning of your career does not show anyone whether you have any artistic talent. All they did is take a group of 'dream' songs and slowed down the arrangements to suit Susan Boyle's style of singing and voice. I personally am not a fan because I don't care for singers who have a waiver in their voice when singing. Also, just because people buy an album doesn't mean its good. Otherwise, why would people buy novelty songs like Disco Duck, Purple People Eater, The Chipmunks etc. Again, I'm not comparing Susan to these records! Susan Boyle seems a very nice lady and I wish her the best.

  10. darren says:

I am sorry but my mum bought SUBO's CD and it isn't that great. The women has a lovely voice but this CD is full of inappropriate covers and is very badly produced. Even my mother who was a massive SUBO fan has only listened to it twice and she was disappointed. Don't know much about Adam Lambert but anyone who gets a Muse song given to them must be pretty good. I know how journalists are well known for misquoting or quoting out of context. So I would take this with a pinch of salt.

  11. Why are people always so quick to think the worst of others? Adam would never say those things about another artist. He always says positive things about other peoples work. That piece of trash for a magazine is obviously trying to get publicity by using Adams name. This needs to backfire on this rag. I didn't by the last piece of crap that tried to do this to Adam, and I won't buy this one either. I think another boycott is inorder. Too bad, because if there would have been a positive story about Adam I would have bought it.

    • laura says:

"Why are people always so quick to think the worst of others?" Exactly, why all the bashing for Clay Aiken? Now you are seeing things very differently, of course. Susan Boyle is much, much bigger than Glambert, and so is Clay. Glambert is near the end of his incipient career, for being rude, extremely vulgar and having no class. Oh I forgot to add that millions of people hate his screaming!

  12. guest says:

thats such bullshit adam would never say anything thing like that, he tweeted that he never said that. i dont know why people have to make up rumors like this, and why people would believe them also.

  13. Kim says:

No way this is true! I have heard every interview Adam has done and he has never said anything bad about anyone. He is a very positive person and always goes out of his way to say something nice, even when it's not deserved. He also promotes other artists. Why would anyone believe this rag mag? Besides Adam has already disputed this on his twitter stating that he was misquoted…and if he sounds nonchalant about it it's probably because he has to deal with this kind of shit repeatedly.

  14. Winter says:

Whatever people. Adam Lambert always speaks well of other artists. I'm so sure that is not what he meant or fully said. I am 100% certain that the man was misquoted as a story of Adam Lambert finally slamming someone in the industry would be more news worthy than him applauding another performer. I'm still in Adam's corner. His character speaks volumes and I don't believe this trash for a minute.

  15. Kim says:

  16. Guest says:

I am ashamed to be a Brits….. what's kind of journalism is this????

  17. Marianne says:

The people who think Adam “attacked“ Susan need to get to know him. He was misquoted. Period. He said something, and the media twisted it, as usual. When someone is a little bit honest in their opinions, the media twists it cos the media is not used to honesty. Twisting arounds people`s words sells a lot more.
    Whatever.

  18. I never thought I’d find such great information on the internet. Will be coming back for more for sure. Great job and keep up the excellent work!

  19. cara says:

Okay. It is the Rolling Stones original version of "Wild Horses" vs. Susan Boyle's version. I'm sure Adam would prefer the classic rock song. He has a great respect for British Rock Stars of the 70's and 80's. It is a dream of his to meet David Bowie. He loves the Rolling Stones. He is glad that Susan Boyle had success. He is really looking forward to going to the UK. He is a very talented, gifted singer. Those are true statements. Wait till he starts promoting his music in the UK and the UK will see what a good guy and mega talented person he is.

  20. cll says:

    haah
just because he said that im not gonna ever buy any of his albums

  21. When Susan Boyle is reported as having sung into a broom at the airport and been reprimanded for being rowdy, having shown her underwear during recordings of live performances, stuck two fingers up to an audience member, having been seen sucking her thumb after a performance ……………. and so on and so on ……………. her fans immediately jump in to say the reports are untrue / inaccurate / exaggerated / malicious / duplicitous / insert denial of your choice.

It amazes me therefore how ready so many of them are to accept anything that anyone else is quoted as saying about her as gospel and how quick they are to stick the boot in to the supposed perpetrator of the alleged statements. This isn't the first time this has happened.

If you expect Susan to be accepted as "innocent until proven guilty" , at least be prepared to give others the benefit of the doubt too.

  22. peek says:

i like rolling stone’s version of wild horse better, it is kind like sad, cool and pale. very soulful.

susan’s version is quite boring in a whole. though the first few lines sound good, it becomes flat and lack of ‘depth’.

  23. Kate says:

It's a guarantee that anything Adam says will be twisted out of context. He didn't say it the way it's been portrayed but few posters have even read the entire interview because they prefer to go negative. Adam is way too innocent and unsuspecting of these jerks to even give these interviews anymore. He doesn't realize how many people, even gay magazines are out to make him look like a bad guy.

He tries to accommodate everyone in the media and comes across as a really nice guy but he is getting caught in the cross hairs of sick people who do not want him to succeed so they lure him in and then print lies about him. Hopefully, he will stop giving interviews, until he is can sign his consent to what they will print and not be surprised later by reading lies and having to defend himself. That is why most of the really talented people in the world won't give any interviews. They realize that the sharks are just waiting to twist their words into something that nets them money(!) when it's printed. If I were him, I'd stop doing print interviews–just do them live and stop the insanity.

  24. cecilia says:

Oh please, she's an aging woman who finally found her 15 minutes. Adam however is going to be ok. He has a steady fan base who want to buy everything he sells. watch him and listen to him talk. I wouldn't worry about Adam. He's resilient. And lets give Boyle her time in the spotlight. She deserves it. These are two talented people who are very different from each other. Whatever Adam says about Boyle won't hurt Boyle…but it won't hurt Adam either. Mean or not. Lots of people agree with him too.

  25. TruthKillsEveryone says:

Adam Lambert is a freakish looking punk that needs to get out of the spot light. There are so many more talented people than him. He is nothiing. If he wants to criticize someone becuase he didn't get the #1 spot on Billboards Top 200 then that really shows his true character. A has been that has issues with himself considering the fact he is a guy and wears more make-up than the average women. This cock sucker just needs to drop off the face of the earth. I really am glad he didn't win American Idol. The better of the two won and actually he shouldn't have been in the final two anyways. American Idol is a place of talent, can't see any in Adam Fagbert.

  27. who? says:

I hate this guy. Talk about being a jerk. He's so full himself. I recognize he has some crazy vocals, but, wow…. what a loser!

  28. dejavu says:

He is whiney and pathetic. His rendition of a gay man is way over the top and overplayed and well just sad. He killed, buried and jumped on grave of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. He really has no room to talk about any other performers renditions.

  29. Angel says:

Those words were put in ADAM's mouth. It's absolutely OUT of CHARACTER. That is NOT who ADAM is. Better read LA Times. A Brit poster said those words were in British English and have been used before in the same gay magazine slamming SB's CD which are now attributed to ADAM. It also quoted ADAM saying he is 27, which is not a fact. Another wrong quotation. It is simply NOT consistent with who ADAM is nor his track record. No way.

  30. Cricket says:

I don't believe it for a minute,,,his words must have been taken out of context as usual,,,,,,the media can make you believe anything they want to and often don't tell it like it is,,

  31. Sam says:

honestly… who really cares about either of these two. No body will remember their names in another year or so

  32. Jenny says:

What a jerk Adam is. And now he’s saying that he was misquoted. Jeez! Hey Adam, go sue the Gay Times for putting you in the limelight again. I guess you couldn’t deny the AMA because it was on TV live. Adam has a great voice but all the attention he’s been getting for coming out as a gay has made him think of himself untouchable. Well, he’s right because I’m never touching his CD again.

  33. laura says:

Glambert's whole American Idol performance was "sacrilegous". But I still remember all the bashing Clay Aiken received from the Glamberts when he stated his opinion about one of Adam's performances? So far Lambert takes every opportunity he has to continue to dismiss Clay and other great, talented and established entertainers. Glamberts made such a huge deal of Clay's comment. I wonder what they are thinking now. It is so true that every person gets what he/she deserves. Personally I think Glambert is the most terrible screamer…errr singer that I ever heard.

  34. Adam' s words were misquoted, and even if he said that he didn't care for Susan's CD so what? He is entitled to his opinion. I'm sure reading alot of opinions about him here, and some of them go way beyond normal critisim. Some of these comments are hateful, and cruel. Some of these reactions are complete overkill about what was supposedly said. It is obvious that some people who are hateful, and bitter on the inside are taking their anger out on a young man for other reasons besides Susan's tiresome CD.

  35. cynthialand says:

A-hole Lambert is a pompous idiot and Susan Boyle has more talent in her little finger than him as a whole. By the way LOVE Boyle's version of "Wild horses"!!!!!!

  36. DAR says:

    I've purchased Susan Boyle's album. I haven't bought Adam's.

  37. Bee says:

Isn't Adam Lambert just another cocksucking faggot with AIDS?
