American Idol: Viewers’ Reactions to Ellen’s First Judging Week

When it was first announced last year, that talk show host Ellen DeGeneres would be taking over Paula Abdul’s judging position on “American Idol,” the news was definitely met with some mixed reactions. But now we have finally seen her judge, in the first live week of the show.

So the question I’d like to ask everyone now, is what they really thought of Ellen’s judging skills in her very first week. Over at buddytv.com they have already had some viewers’ reactions, and it appears that it’s pretty much the same as before – with mixed comments.

Judging by a few of the comments to start with, people think that she is doing an okay job, but do say there is room for her to improve. Others say that Ellen just needs to find her groove within “American Idol.” Then of course we have the negative comments about her as well.

One reader said that they don’t think Ellen is right for the job, and says they don’t believe she actually understands what it takes to be a good singer. Another viewer’s opinion was that Ellen is “horrible,” and that she doesn’t have anything to offer.

    Dear Ellen,

    how old are you ellen? not sure, but i have always had a lot of respect for you. i am writing because i can't believe that american idol has an age limit. This is obviously for record companies to make money …..that is the main reason — they are young and the record companies require this so they can continue to make big bucks for as long as possible. how can U as the person i thought i actually KNEW and respected appear on this show? this shows you agree with the age limit, do you REALLY? there are so many other people over the stupid age limit who can perform and are NOT allowed to. If you made a mistake, then please correct it and say something on your awesome daytime show to convey this. I am so upset by this, it not only takes precedence on american idol, but in so many other ways. We are all going to get old (past 30 by idol views) but in every other way, please ellen don't let this happen, FIGHT, you are a fighter!

    I don't think Ellen brings that much to the table. Actually, the show seems boring now. There's no chemistry at all. You could tell there was with Paula and Simon. Now that Simon will be leaving after this season, I unfortunately think the show may be doomed. X-Factor will take over and with Paula and Simon PROBABLY together again, I think people would rather watch that instead of American Idol.
