If you follow the news regularly, then you would have heard all the previous news stories regarding celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton having their homes burglarized. Over $1 million worth or jewelery and clothing had been stolen.
And the burglaries were all done by a group who called themselves the “Hollywood Bling Ring.” And according to a report at gather.com, Rachel Lee and Nick Prugo would use the Internet – but mainly Google Earth – to find ways of getting into the celebrity homes.

Nick apparently claims he was helping Rachel “go shopping,” which actually turned out to be a string of celebrity burglaries by the “Hollywood Bling Ring.” They would break into the houses while the celebrities were out partying, after keeping tabs on them.
Between the October of 2008 and the August of 2009, the “Hollywood Bling Ring” group managed to steal close to $2 million from celebrities, thinking they’d never get caught. But on September 17th 2009, they did get caught on numerous accounts.
It just goes to prove what purpose Google Earth can be used for. And to be honest, it is quite frightening that it can be used in that way. It makes me wonder that if they hadn’t of got caught, which celebrity would have been next on the list?
