It was only 2 weeks ago in Southern California, that Rodney Alcala was convicted of murdering four women and a girl, between the years of 1977, and 1979. And now it’s been revealed that it was during that period, that Alcala became the winning bachelor on “The Dating Game.”
On “The Dating Game,” a female contestant would ask three bachelors – who she could hear but not see – a set of questions, and then choose one of them for a date. Jed Mills, who was contestant number 2 on the show back in 1978, described Alcala as “definitely creepy.”

Despite the fact that the woman chose Alcala as her date, she refused to go out with him. Within months of appearing on the show and being chosen, Rodney had apparently abducted and murdered a 12-year old girl. Alcala had previously raped an 8-year old girl prior to the show.
Alcala – who is now 66-years old – is defending himself in the penalty stage of the trial. He now hopes to persuade a Santa Ana jury to reject the death penalty. What makes me wonder out of all of this, is how he managed to get onto a reality TV dating show in the first place?
