
Former Los Angeles Dodgers star Willie Davis dies

Los Angeles Dodgers star Willie Davis has been found dead at his home in Burbank, California. According to police they do not believe foul play was involved in the 69-year-olds death.
Davis, who was a speedy centerfielder starred in two World Series for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1963 and 1965, he won three Gold Gloves and set a Dodgers record in 1969, with a 31-game hitting streak. He played for four other teams, and retired after the 1979 season with a career 279 average and 398 stolen bases.
Davis was born on April 15th, 1940 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas. At the end of his career he ranked seventh in major league history in putouts. Willie made his debut for the Dodgers in 1960. It was believed that he converted to Buddhism and irritated teammates by constantly fingering his prayer beads and chanting before games.
