Google Earth is proving to be popular amongst everybody these days, even if it is just to search your own house, or even the large and expensive homes of celebrities. It’s been used in good ways such as helping to solve crimes, and in not so good ways – the “Hollywood Bling Ring.”
And according to an article over at guardian.co.uk, someone recently asked the question: “Have any football matches been captured on Google Earth?” So that got the people at The Guardian thinking, and they managed to find a few shots of games that had been captured on Google Earth.
The first image they found was of Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol and by the looks of things, it would have been on a Saturday afternoon, on 14th April 2007. The game was between Gary Johnson’s Bristol City F.C. and Yeovil, and the game was won 2-0 by the home team Bristol City F.C.
Another game that was captured by Google Earth, was a game that was more than likely played by Hallam FC – the world’s second oldest football club – at Sandygate Road – the world’s oldest football ground. And finally, there was a game captured back in May 2007 that saw Ibis FC playing.
