Simon Cowell on Crystal Bowersox: ‘American Idol Frontrunner’

It appears that one of the “American Idol” season 9 contestants, has definitely got judge Simon Cowell’s seal of approval. And the contestant I am talking about is 24-year old Crystal Bowersox, who was hospitalized last week with a diabetes scare.

While speaking to Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Monday, Simon Cowell reiterated that he believes that Crystal Bowersox might just be the one to beat this season. “I’ll tell you who I like, I like this girl Crystal,” Cowell told Leno.

Cowell then went on to admit that when he first saw the singer – who comes from Elliston – he described her as a busker. Simon then said that Bowersox has a great voice and the confidence to go with it, and described Crystal as different.

Crystal may have been ill last week, but when she returned to perform “Long as I Can See the Light” on Wednesday night, she wowed the judges. Following her performance, Simon said that he thinks they have a really serious artist in her.
