American Idol Season 9: Recap of Top 8 Boys Performances

After what some people described as a disappointing night of performances from the top 8 girls on Tuesday night, it was the boys turn to try and impress the judges on Wednesday night. So let’s see if they did any better than the girls.

Lee DeWyze was the first of the guys to sing, and he chose the recent “Fireflies” song by Owl City. Kara said that he had made it a better song with his rendition, while Simon said there was nothing to rave about. Then we had Alex Lambert.

He performed Ray LaMontague’s “Trouble,” but it unfortunately wasn’t that spectacular. Now let’s talk about Todrick Hall, who sang “Somebody to Love” by Queen. He started off the song about two octaves too high, but the judges still loved it.

Tim Urban decided to go with Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” After Tim finished performing, Ellen just run op onto the stage and gave him a hug. She then told him that his performance was fantastic. Simon said it wasn’t the best version he’d heard.

Then we have Andrew Garcia, who went with Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle.” Simon said that Andrew’s song choice was a little bit desperate. Now we get onto Casey James, who performed Keith Urban’s “You’ll Think of Me.”

Simon told Casey that he sounded great. Aaron Kelly sang Lonestar’s “I’m Already There,” which sounded too much like karaoke. And finally we had Mike Lynche, who sang Maxwell’s “Woman’s Work.” He definitely impressed the judges.
