Sony Unveil The PlayStation Move

The moment PlayStation fans have all been waiting for has finally come to pass, and now Sony officially have a name for their motion controller due for release this fall – The PlayStation Move.

Essentially, the motion controller looks the same as the Nintendo Wii’s version, but has a bright ‘bulb’ like feature on the top of it that comes in 4 different flavors – Red, Green, Yellow and Blue (Square, Triangle, Circle and Cross).

The ‘Move’ was announced at the 2010 Games Developer Conference last night, where the demonstrated the technology with a host of games which will be compatible with the controller including Sony’s new title they revealed last week – Socom 4 – plus a host of other games including LittleBigPlanet, Table Tennis and a fighting game known as “Motion Fighters.”

Sony hope that the controller will appeal to the core gamers as well as the casual ones – something the Nintendo Wii managed to do, but Sony hope to encourage new gamers to try the ‘Move,’ especially when it is essentially like using a Wii controller, but with far better graphics.

President Shuhei of SCE Worldwide Studio’s used the buzzword of ‘Precision’ throughout Peter Dillie’s presentation, he said that it was “A more precise, immersive, and responsive game experience,”
