As many of you will be aware, the 2010 F1 season opener took place today in Bahrain. And while pole sitter Sebastian Vettel appeared to lead the majority of the race, it was Fernando Alonso and Ferrari that claimed the dream victory in the first race of the season.
And according to itv-f1.com, Alonso’s team –mate Felipe Massa – who was competing in his first race since his horrific accident during the qualifying rounds of last year’s Hungarian Grand Prix – definitely underlined Ferrari’s resurgence, by taking second place.

Sebastian Vettel, who won yesterday’s qualifying round to take pole position in today’s Bahrain Grand Prix, appeared to be in control for most of the race. But he unfortunately lost that control, when his Red Bull slowed with a suspected exhaust failure.
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton got his 2010 season off to a great, solid start as well, by taking the final podium place. Vettel managed to hold onto fourth place over Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg, who managed to beat his team-mate Michael Schumacher by 4 seconds.
Alonso paved the way to his win in today’s race, with a typically combative start. He managed to muscle past Felipe Massa around the outside of the first corner, and slotted into second place behind Vettel. But when Red Bull slowed, Alonso managed to take victory.
