Kate Winslet and Husband Sam Mendes Break-up

According to a recent report at eonline.com, Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet has recently announced that she is separating from her husband, Oscar winning director Sam Mendes, who she has been married to for almost seven years.

The press-shy couple did not give an official reason for their split, but chose instead to announce their sad news through their mutual lawyer. The lawyer went on to say that both parties are fully committed to the future of joint parenting for their children.

Keith Schilling of London-based law firm to celebrities, Schillings, said that Kate and Sam were announcing that they had split earlier this year. He then said that the split was entirely amicable, and said the couple has asked for the media to respect their privacy.

The couple – who last worked together in the movie “Revolutionary Road” – only have one child together, their 6-year old son Joe. Kate Winslet also has a 9-year old daughter Mia, who is from her previous marriage to director Jim Threapleton.
