Tonight is quite a special night for the world of music, as it’s the night when the induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame takes place. And according to an article at cnn.com, this year’s ceremony will take place at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in New York.
Among the 2010 inductees are Jimmy Cliff, The Hollies, Genesis, the Stooges, and ABBA. Other inductees include record executive David Geffen, and songwriters Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich, Barry Mann, Mort Shuman, Jess Stone, Cynthia Weil and Otis Blackwell.

The above inductees are the individual receivers of the Ahmet Ertegun Award. All the inductees were chosen by a voting committee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for the Hall of Fame, 25 years after their first recording was released.
When the inductees were named last year, Joel Peresman – president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation – said that the inductees and all people that have contributed immeasurably to the business, and define the broad spectrum and history of rock ‘n’ roll.
