It looks like former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, is about to take on a completely different form of athletic competition altogether. Only this time, it won’t actually be him that is doing the training, but a load of pigeons instead.
According to an article at foxnews.com, Tyson is going to be joining up with Animal Planet, to give the audiences a glimpse into the competitive world of pigeon racing. The show in question will apparently be called “Taking on Tyson.”

The show will follow Tyson, as he enters the world of racing pigeons competitively and trains the New York City birds, with a team of bird experts helping him. The champion boxer has reportedly had a love of birds throughout his whole life.
Marjorie Kaplan – Animal Planet Media President – said that Tyson’s passion for his pigeons takes her breath away. While training the birds requires a lot of patience and discipline, Tyson says that he is ready to take up that challenge.
The show will premiere early next year (2011).
