Season nine of “American Idol” continued last night, with the Top 12 taking to the big stage to perform the hits of the Rolling Stones. And by the looks of things the girls really proved they are the ones to beat this year, with solid performances from both Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus.
Football-player-turned-singer Michael Lynche was the first to perform last night, with his performance of “Miss You.” Both Randy Jackson and Ellen DeGeneres thought that Lynche had provided a nice kickoff to the night, while Simon praised Michael on his growing confidence.

After Casey James had performed “It’s All Over Now,” Kara said it was his best performance yet, while Simon said it felt more like an audition, and that he didn’t make use of the big stage. Katie Stevens needed to perform well this week, for a chance to stay in the game – and that she did!
She performed the iconic tune “Wild Horses” – which has also been covered by “Britain’s Got Talent” star Susan Boyle – Randy thought it was a strong performance, while Simon said it was a good song choice. Siobhan Magnus performed the “Paint it Black” song.
And she definitely impressed the judges, with Simon Cowell describing it as a standout performance. Closing last night’s show was Crystal Bowersox, with “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” However, all of the judges thought the same, that it wasn’t her best performance.
