Anna Nicole Smith and Oil Fortune: Estate Not Receiving Any

The 15-year long legal battle between Anna Nicole Smith – who died of a drug overdose in 2008 – and E. Pierce Marshall – the son of the Texas billionaire J. Howard Marshall – looks like it’s coming to an end soon, but it’s not good news for Smith’s estate.

According to a recent report at abcnews.go.com, a federal appeals court ruled on Friday that J. Howard Marshall – the man who married Smith in the last year of his life – never intended on leaving any of his vast fortune to the former stripper.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the Houston jury that said J. Howard Marshall was mentally fit and under no undue pressure whatsoever, when he wrote his will that left nearly all of his $1.6 billion estate to his son E. Pierce Marshall.

Smith originally said that the elder Marshall had promised her more than $300 million before he died, despite there being no written documentation of this. A lawyer for Smith’s estate, Kent Richland, vows he will appeal this latest ruling.
