Ellen Pompeo Defends Her Short Maternity Leave

When “Grey’s Anatomy” actress Ellen Pompeo returned to work only four weeks after giving birth to daughter Stella Luna, it raised a few eyebrows. But according to a recent report at monstersandcritics.com, Ellen has since spoken out, defending her short maternity leave.

Speaking in an interview with Self Magazine quite recently, Ellen said “A lot of people couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t take my maternity leave.” The 40-year old actress then went on to explain how she felt she needed to work, while the opportunity was still there.

However, Pompeo says that Stella Luna is still her first priority and had earlier spoke about her plans to eventually give up acting to live in “tranquility” with her family. Pompeo, who is married to Chris Ivery, said she hopes Stella has more self-confidence than she did as a child.
