Many college basketball fans were left shocked yesterday, after the top-seeded Kansas were eliminated from the 2010 NCAA Tournament, by No. 9 seed Northern Iowa in their thrilling 67-65 winning game. And it looks like it was all thanks to Ali Farokhmanesh.
It’s definitely been a good week for Farokhmanesh. Not only did he hit the 3-point buzzer-beating basket that allowed Northern Iowa to defeat UNLV in its first-round game, but he also hit a key 3-point shot and two foul shots in the final seconds of yesterday’s winning game.

According to npr.org, Northern Iowa’s shocking win over Kansas on Saturday, was the biggest of three more upsets in a tournament that has already seen many more of them. Earlier in the day, the St. Mary’s Gaels had defeated the Big East power Villanova, 75-68.
St. Mary’s gave away their big early lead against Villanova, but soon fought back for the 75-68 victory. Another shocking result was the No. 11 seed Washington, defeating the No. 3 seed New Mexico 82-64. You can read more about yesterday’s games here.
