According to a recent report at news.bbc.co.uk, a California attorney has recently revealed details that late “Lost Boys” actor Corey Haim obtained more than 500 prescription pills, in the two months prior to his death in March at the age of 38.
Jerry Brown said that Haim – who fought drug addiction for years – managed to acquire the drugs such as Valium, through seven different doctors using an alias at least once. Mr Brown described the former teen star as a “poster child” for prescription drug use.

It is thought that Haim was able to obtain the medications by complaining about specific symptoms to doctors, such as shoulder pain. Mr Brown said that the doctors appeared not to realize, that Haim was getting the prescriptions through other sources.
Brown said that prescription abuse or “doctor shopping” appears to be on the rise, and his office has been investigating over 200 different cases among both patients and doctors. Haim’s name was discovered on records during an investigation.
