Rima Fakih, Miss Michigan Becomes Miss USA 2010 Winner

The 2010 Miss USA pageant took place last night, at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. And if you are now wondering who was crowned the new Miss USA 2010, it was Miss Michigan Rima Fakih.

Rima was most definitely up against some strong competition last night but when it came down to it, she ultimately took the title. The 2010 Miss USA definitely got some heavy publicity this year, thanks to the sexy bikini promotional pictures put out beforehand.

When it came down to the final five, Rima was the only brunette up against four stunning blonds. The 1st runner-up was Miss Oklahoma, Morgan Elizabeth Woolard; 2nd runner-up was Miss Virginia, Samantha Evelyn Casey and 3rd runner-up was Miss Colorado, Jessica Hartman.

The fourth place was taken by Miss Maine, Katherine Ashley Whittier. When asked if birth control should be paid for by health insurance, 24-year Fakih replied “Yes because it is expensive, and I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance.”

In summer tank top/shorts, Lebanese-American Rima Fakih wins a radio Channel 99.5 Detroit-sponsored promotional pole-dancing contest one morning in 2007. Swimsuit bikini-clad, she wins the Miss U.S.A. title another day in 2010. Diamond tiara-crowned, she wakes up the next morn publicly stoned by false accusations of being a pole-dancing strip teaser somewhere in her past. In the land of the free where the nation of immigrants are rooted to "In God, We Trust" and society idolizes showy "sexiness," the “scandalized uproar" sadly smacks of hypocrisy, jealousy, misguided sensationalism, desperate marketing, and cheap advertising! Here's a few good things to know about the beauty-with-brains winner: 1) She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics minor in Business Administration at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. [The Detroit Blog] 2) She was a volunteer social worker during her college years. [My Fox New York] 3) Rima is the ambassador of The Pink Fund, an organization that provides financial aid to women and men afflicted with breast cancer.
