Sir Paul McCartney is making a very special trip to the United States next week, where he will be visiting the White House. While there the 67-year old former Beatle will not only perform, but will also receive an award from President Barack Obama.
As reported in a bbc.co.uk article, McCartney will be performing as part of a concert that is in his honor. At the same time, he will be presented with the third annual Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The award is given out by the Library of Congress.

Paul Simon was the very first prize winner, followed by Stevie Wonder who won it last year. Other performers listed for next week’s event – to be broadcast on US TV on 28th July – includes Stevie Wonder, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Faith Hill and Elvis Costello.
The Jonas Brothers, country singer Emmylou Harris, White Stripes singer Jack White and comedian Jerry Seinfeld have also been listed as performing.
