‘Persons Unknown’ Premieres: NBC’s New Mystery Mini-Series

A brand new 13-epsiode mystery series kicked off on NBC last night, which the people behind the show are hoping to get people talking about this summer. And the new series I am talking about is “Persons Unknown,” which was written by Christopher McQuarrie.

As reported by Brian Tallerico at hollywoodchicago.com, it’s very difficult to actually judge a mystery series just by its first episode, but the whole set up for “Persons Unknown” is definitely intriguing. The stars of the show include Daisy Betts and Jason Wiles.

The show focuses on a small group of seemingly very different people, who wake up in a rather old-fashioned hotel with no memory of how they got there. It appears that they have been kidnapped, and transported far away from their homes with no explanation.

Single mother Janet Cooper – played by Daisy Betts – is the first ‘abductee’ we met last night. In the opening scene of the show, Janet was confronted by a private investigator. Moments later she is drugged and kidnapped, leaving her five year old girl alone in the park.

Janet then meets her fellow victims, including Joe Tucker (Jason Wiles), Tori Fairchild (Kate Lang Johnson), Moira Doherty (Tina Holmes) and Charlie Morse (Alan Ruck). They all soon realize that they are in an entire small town that’s abandoned, apart from them.

And to top it all off, there are cameras everywhere, that appear to be watching and recording their every move. Why would someone want to throw complete strangers together in an abandoned town? Why are they being watched? It makes you want to watch more.

Did you watch the premiere of “Persons Unknown?” If you did, what did you think of it?
