American actress and stand-up comedian Alison Arngrim – best known for playing the part of Nellie Oleson on the US family drama “Little House on the Prairie” – has decided to tell all in her new book, including details on how she was abused as a child.
As reported by dailymail.co.uk, in her book – titled “Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated” – Arngrim reveals that when she was a child, she was the victim of traumatic abuse by a family member.

However, Arngrim says that playing the part of the scheming, manipulative brat Nellie Oleson, helped her deal with her anger. “[Nellie] was a girl I grew to love. She got me out of my house when I thought there was no escape,” Arngrim writes.
Alison went on to say “She transformed me from a shy, abused little girl afraid of her own shadow to the in-your-face, outspoken, politically active, big-mouthed bitch I am today.” And although the show ended nearly 30 years ago, people still confuse her with her nasty character.
