40-year old Andrew Koppel – the late son of legendary journalist Ted Koppel – died after overdosing on a medley of alcohol, cocaine, heroin and valium, authorities have revealed recently. Reports say that he also had Levamisole in his system.
According to Rocco Parascandola at nydailynews.com, Ellen Borakove – a spokeswoman for the city’s medical examiner’s office – said: “It has been ruled an accident,” when speaking about Andrew’s death. It isn’t clear where Koppel got the drugs, or when he had used them.

Andrew Koppel, a graduate of Georgetown University’s law school, had battled alcohol addiction for most of his adult life. He passed away in a Washington Heights apartment last month, after he had reportedly gone a a 12-hour bender.
32-year Russell Wimberly was apparently with Koppel during his very last drinking binge. He recently declined to give any comment, but told the Daily News nearly two weeks ago that he hadn’t seen Koppel – who was living with his girlfriend in Queens – do any drugs.
