Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes – best known for films such as “Passenger 57” and his role in the “Blade” movies – is now facing a three-year prison sentence for evading over $15 million in taxes, after he lost his recent appeal against the sentence.
As reported by ndtv.com, the court of appeal in Atlanta ruled that the judge was correct in sentencing the 47-year old actor to a jail term for his felony. Snipes received the maximum sentence from a judge in Florida back in 2008, for dodging federal income taxes.

The actor’s lawyers had reportedly argued that the sentence was “unreasonable,” and claimed that he should have been granted a hearing to decide whether or not his trial should have been held in New York instead of in Florida, a report at Daily Mail online said.
Back when Snipes received his sentence, Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington had written to US District Court judge William Terrell Hodges, asking that Wesley Snipes not be sent to prison. Fellow actor Woody Harrelson also pleaded on Snipes’ behalf.
